The Family Sharing Basket is a whole church family activity. Every family in the Pine’s Christian Church is expected to participate in sharing with one another throughout the weeks of 2011. We want to share with one another in Christian love and giving with all our brothers and sisters.
How will this work?
1. There is a basket containing a journal that will be used to hold the surprise for the family of the week. The “surprise of the week” must fit in the basket.
2. The first holder of the basket places the “surprise” in the basket, writes the name of the recipient family in the journal and passes the basket to that family on Sunday. You may choose any family you wish as long as they have not already received the basket in 2011.
3. The recipient family takes the basket home, enjoys the surprise for a week and returns the basket the next Sunday containing a new surprise.
4. The name of the next family is recorded in the journal and the basket is handed off.
5. The basket continues to journey through all the Pines families throughout 2011.
6. A family unit is defined as all members living in the same household together.
7. Every effort must be made to return the basket weekly in order for every family to receive it in a timely fashion.
Suggestions for Surprises
First of all, the size of the basket is meant to limit the size of the surprise – please keep your addition to basket size. The monetary value of the surprise is not the focus.
